Poor Sleeping Habits Linked to Increased Risk of Type 2 Diabetes Despite Healthy Eating Patterns!!

Short sleep duration (<7 hours/day) is associated with several health complications, including increased risk of type 2 diabetes (T2DM). Though studies have shown that increasing the daily sleep duration to a minimum of 7 hours may reduce the risk of T2DM, several challenges preclude getting adequate sleep, including heavy work schedules, childcare responsibilities, or economic pressures.

A study conducted by Noga et al., recently published in the “JAMA”, reported that even eating a healthy diet cannot overcome the increased risk for T2DM due to habitual short sleeping pattern (see the Graphic of the study snapshot).
